Dynamite Songs Acquires Catalog of Grammy Winner Keith Harris
The producer and songwriter has worked with Madonna, Usher and more
Music publisher Dynamite Songs has acquired the catalog of Grammy Award-winning producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Keith Harris.
The deal:
Dynamite says the deal covers the publishing rights to more than 200 songs written by Harris.
It includes performance royalties from the writer’s share on certain songs and Performance Rights Organization (PRO) income on others.
Hitmaker:
Harris’s catalog includes hits with:
The Black Eyed Peas (“Meet Me Halfway,” “Imma Be,” and “It’s My Birthday”)
Estelle (“American Boy”)
Robin Thicke (“Feel Good”)
Usher (“Can’t Stop Won’t Stop”)
Madonna (“Gang Bang”)
Chrisette Michele (“Be Okay,” “Let’s Rock”)
His catalog joins Dynamite’s broader portfolio of around 1,000 works.
Dynamite:
The music publisher was launched earlier this year by the team behind Mojo Music & Media.
It has already completed a series of acquisitions including the rights to music by Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Papa Roach, ATB and Dan + Shay.
Its focus is on acquiring and managing a select number of high-quality, culturally significant copyrights, particularly marquee songs from smaller, mature catalogs.
It's backed by global investment manager Crestline Investors.
What they said:
Alan Wallis, CEO of Dynamite Songs: “Keith Harris’s catalog reflects everything we look for at Dynamite: compositions with proven performance and continued relevance across formats and markets. These are songs that have consistently connected with broad audiences over time. Keith’s contribution to the sound of the past two decades is indelible, and we’re pleased to be supporting the next chapter of his catalog’s long and promising life.”
